Where exactly does the money
go?
Horse care, and caring for
the property so it is always available for the continued
care of horses in need. The property is owned by
Animal Protection Coalition, Inc.; we hope the rescue
continues for years after we are gone. Hundreds of horses have been
rescued, rehabilitated, some even purchased to come to the
rescue, most are then available for adoption, there are
a few residents that remain with Indiana Horse
Rescue permanently. This facility is run completely by
volunteers. There are no salaries and no paid employees.
Through the cooperation of local businesspeople and
help from volunteers, we're able to keep expenses as low
as possible, but providing for these animals is still
costly. Here are a few examples of costs for just one
horse . . .
|
Grain for one week: $12
|
Basic farrier trimming: $35 every 6 weeks
|
|
Hay for one month: $50
|
Annual shots: $45
|
|
Winter blanket: $55
|
Annual Deworming costs $75 or more
