We are thrilled
to welcome Shulah Greatwater as our on-site farrier at IHR Southwest in
Owensville, IN and IHR Central in Frankfort, IN. Shulah has over 25 years experience as a
farrier/blacksmith, rehabilitating feet from various severe lameness
problems including but not limited to: Laminitis (founder), Navicular
disease, under-slung heels, contracted Heels, cracked toes, and White line
disease.
Shulah is a
natural barefoot advocate and has had numerous success with horses that
veterinarians had given up on. As a barefoot advocate she will be happy
to discuss the pros and cons of booting your horse while transitioning
from shoes to barefoot. "Horses were not born with shoes."
Shulah recently won a
competitive trail ride with veterinarians in attendance judging, on a
horse that had been so severely foundered that the coffin bones were
exposed through the bottom of the feet. After two years of
rehabilitation, trail riding and conditioning, the mare was ridden
entirely barefoot in a 16 mile race.
For more information about
your horse's hoof care and soundness issues, or to make an appointment,
you can contact Shulah directly at (859) 466-6896 (cell)
In order for Shulah to
continue to contributing her time and expertise at no cost toe Indiana
Horse Rescue we encourage you to enlist her as your farrier.
Her regular fees are:
- $30.00 for the first trim
- $25.00 for the next trims
if scheduled at regular 6-8 week intervals.
- For severe lameness
issues, prices may vary depending on the problem and time involved.
Remember: No Hoof, No
