Saphira

Saphira was worked on 3/28/12. She did well after not being worked all winter. She neck reins well and has a good one rein stop. She is a little girth shy right now, but took the saddle well. She likes to go slow under saddle, she has no desire to go fast. With more time she would be well suited for trails and children/novice riders.

Saphira, she is an adult mare, her breed is unknown, however she appears to be a Quarter Horse/Arabian type cross.  Saphira leads/loads, She has has a rider on her back, but still needs more work.

Saphira is a sweet mare and one of the calmest horses.  She has gained all of her weight back and is now ready to go to a new home.  ‘Fia’ gets along great with other horses and loves to be loved on. She quickly became a favorite of our younger volunteers and loves to nap while they are braiding her mane.

IHR received a call from Pike County Sheriff Dept 11/14/09 approx 9:30 p.m. regarding a horse running at large.  Volunteers met the Deputy and neighbors to help locate the horse.  They were able to catch her easily, check her for injuries and load her into the trailer.
